From the moment our fiery spirit ignited to the present day, Hanoi Draco Dormiens has soared through countless achievements, challenges, and unforgettable moments. This timeline chronicles our epic quest, from humble beginnings to becoming a formidable force in the quidditch world.

Foundation

Hanoi Draco Dormiens was established by a bunch members of ‘Hogwarts Vietnam’, the biggest Harry Potter fan community in the country. We created handmade equipment as laying the groundwork for the growth of quidditch in Hanoi and Vietnam.

AQC'2017 - Hanoi

Hanoi Draco Dormiens took a pivotal step in the development of Vietnamese quidditch by hosting the country’s first international tournament, Asian Quidditch Cup 2017 in our hometown. The event brought together five teams from Vietnam, Malaysia, Australia, and South Korea.

Kuala Lumpur Visit

Hanoi Draco Dormiens and the Flames Owls embarked on a joint venture to visit Kuala Lumpur and engage in a friendly match with the Damansara Dementors. This cultural exchange fostered strong ties between the teams and contributed to the growing quidditch community in Asia.

IQA World Cup - Florence

In Florence, Italy, Team Vietnam consisted of 18 players, 7 of whom were HDD members. Additionally, 2 other players of Team Vietnam at the time also trained with us entirely during their time in Vietnam.

APQC'19 - Seoul

Hanoi Draco Dormiens participated in the Asia Pacific Quidditch Cup in Seoul, South Korea, the largest quidditch tournament in the region so far with 10 teams. We gained valuable experience competing against top-tier opponents, fostering growth and development.

VQC'19 - Saigon

The inaugural Vietnam Quidditch Cup took place, featuring three teams from two major cities of the country. Hanoi Draco Dormiens actively participated in this landmark event, contributing to the establishment of domestic quidditch competition.

VQC'20 - Hanoi

Hanoi Draco Dormiens hosted the second Vietnam Quidditch Cup, expanding the reach of the sport within the country with 4 teams. The event showcased the team’s organizational capabilities and contributes to the growth of the Vietnamese quidditch community.

Bulldozer Cup - Hanoi

Hanoi Draco Dormiens introduced the Bulldozer Cup, first fantasy quidditch tournament designed to engage the local quidditch community in Hanoi. The event fostered a strong sense of camaraderie and competition among 28 players in the city.

Dragon Cup - Hanoi

Building on the success of the Bulldozer Cup, Hanoi Draco Dormiens expanded the Dragon Cup as a “branded” fantasy tournament by HDD. This event attracted 15 players from Saigon, making a total of 45 players to form 3 teams.

Indochine Villa 1st

Hanoi Draco Dormiens celebrated our seventh anniversary with a team-building retreat at Indochine Villa. The event fostered camaraderie and strengthened team bonds through various activities and friendly competitions.

VQC'22 - Saigon

Hanoi Draco Dormiens achieved a historic victory by winning the VQC championship. Despite being the only away team in Saigon, the team demonstrated strength, teamwork, and determination to claim the coveted title. This triumph solidified our position as a dominant force in Vietnamese quidditch.

Thang Long Quidditch League I

For the first time ever, a long-run quidditch league was introduced in Hanoi, welcoming all Hanoians. Hosted by HDD, the league was meant to be multiple seasons, each 6 months long, among 3 teams across the city.

APQC'22 - Hanoi

Hanoi Draco Dormiens successfully hosted the AQPC’22 for the second time such international event was organized in Vietnam, attracting 7 teams from Asia will players from the 5 continents. After the long pandepic, the tournament showcased Vietnam’s growing quidditch scene and contribution to the sport’s global development.

Dragon Cup II - Ninh Binh

Hanoi Draco Dormiens travelled to the serene environment of Cuc Phuong National Park for the second Dragon Cup. The event combined friendly competition with opportunities for team bonding and a deeper connection with nature, fostering a unique and memorable experience for all participants.

QNations' Cup - Tarragona

HDD made significant contributions to Team Vietnam’s impressive performance at the Quadball Nations Cup with 7/20 players. Representing their country on the international stage, our dragonbies’ strength and dedication were showcased, inspiring future growth of quidditch in Vietnam.

VQC'23 - Saigon

Hanoi Draco Dormiens maintained our status as a top-tier team by securing second place at the largest VQC tournament to date. Despite facing stiff competition with 4 teams from the host city, we demonstrated resilience and determination, solidifying our position in the Vietnamese quidditch landscape.

THANG LONG QUIDDITCH LEAGUE II

The second season of long-run quidditch league hosted by HDD was commenced, with a lot of more investment and seriousness poured in the 3 teams. The 3 teams were assigned to wear the 3 current kits of HDD, and the organization and sports quality of the league demonstrated the growing professionalism of Hanoi quidditch led by HDD.

Indochine Villa 2nd

Hanoi Draco Dormiens commemorated our ninth anniversary with a second retreat at Indochine Villa. Building upon the success of the previous retreats, we engaged in various activities and competitions that fostered camaraderie and celebrate the team’s growth and achievements.

APQC'24 - Japan

Hanoi Draco Dormiens made history by becoming the only team to participate in the Asian-Pacific Quadball Cup four times, with the fourth appearance at APQC’24 in Tokyo, Japan. We also secured the bronze medal, marking the first international medal ever won by a Vietnamese quadball team.

Hanoi Draco Dormiens (HDD) triumphed at VQC2024 with our Purple team, having made the groundbreaking decision to field two separate teams, sharing our strongest players between them. This victory showcased not only our strength but also our commitment to sportsmanship.
